Don’t Give Into Fear

Don’t Give Into Fear
Well, this has been a whirlwind/shitshow, hasn’t it?! Rona has been lurking in other countries since December, and I know I didn’t take it seriously at first, but in the last week, my spidey senses started popping off and now here it is…raging Rona. Arkansas got its first Rona case only a week ago and it quickly went from 1 to 70 within the week. Suffice it to say…we are self-quarantining like a mug over here and I’m encouraging ya’ll to do the same. I don’t mind it actually, I really had no life before Rona and was in most of the time, so my day to day hasn’t been very affected but my finances are about to be. One of my clients told me he’s going to have to scale back on my hours and that’s when the fear started to creep in and my thinking got stinkin…
“Of all the liars in the world, sometimes the worst are our own fears.”
— Rudyard Kipling
When I tell you I went down a spiral of fear, ya’ll…like at the end of it, Gia and I were living on the streets…just catastrophizing and letting the fear take over my mind. Fear of poverty is a really big trigger for me, but while I have family and Gia’s father is still alive, I know she won’t have the same childhood I had. What is catastrophizing? It’s an irrational thought a lot of us have in believing that something is far worse than it actually is. Catastrophizing can generally take two forms: making a catastrophe out of a current situation and imagining making a catastrophe out of a future situation. I did a little of both. Then I took some deep breaths and took stock of my life and found things to be grateful for, and the fear was replaced with gratitude. I also looked at what I COULD control vs what I couldn’t.
I knew I wasn’t the only person that would be going down a fear spiral. Everything seems so chaotic and uncertain, so this week’s podcast episode is a solo one, where I speak about fears as well as,
- Ways to avoid stinkin thinkin
- Why self-care needs to be a priority for you right meow
- Things we can do to help us through this rough time
- Resources I have planned for you so we can get through this together
It’s ok to be scared ya’ll….these are scary times. I just encourage you to not let it take up space in your hearts and minds. Our children generally end up on the receiving end of our bad moods. I’m sure they’re scared and anxious too, so I encourage you to take this time to connect with and love on them…even teens and older kids who are home from college. Don’t forget…we’re in this together, so please treat the people around you with love, respect, and compassion.
Here are a few affirmations to help calm your fears.
- I trust that life supports me. I am safe.
- I am rising above the thoughts that are trying to keep me angry and frightened.
- I am safe. I trust the process of life to bring only good to me.
- I release all fears. I am safe.
- I lovingly allow change into my life and trust in my higher good.
- I am lovingly supported by the power that created me.
- I invite peace and harmony to dwell in me and surround me at all times.
- I trust my inner voice. I am at peace.
- Divine peace and harmony surround me and dwell within me.
- I am relaxed and peaceful because I trust the process of life.
- I release, I relax and let go. All is well in my world.
- I am becoming calmer with every deep breath that I take
- I am calm and relaxed.
Ya’ll are all in my prayers….
HUGS!
