In this episode of Parenting Decolonized Podcast, I’m reaching out to you from Georgia, where I’m meeting with the Black Femme Freedom Collective and celebrating our one year anniversary of forming! I also address a serious struggle I’ve been having lately and how I’m overcoming it.
So, let’s start with my most recent struggle…
Can you feel the oppression in your body? The tension? I can. The weight of this world is often so heavy on me and it makes me worry for Gia’s future. That’s why I’ve been focusing on being intentional and enjoying the good stuff life has to offer, the stuff that brings me joy. One of the things that brings me joy is community, which y’all are a big part of.
The truth is there are people who want to make this world a better place. There are folks, like us, who are focused on harm reduction, liberation, and equality for all.
That’s what keeps me going when life gets really hard.
As a single mother and entrepreneur with depression and ADHD, I know how powerful it is to find your community, your tribe of people that you can count on for support. Your tribe will lift you up and help you push forward, even in times you can’t even imagine getting through.
Through my events, especially conferences, I’m helping to cultivate a community that is dedicated to supporting one another in decolonizing our minds, our families, and the world.
Parenting Decolonized is hosting the 3-day Rona, Racism, and Radical Parenting Conference on September 23rd-25th, 2022! With 25+ speakers from various backgrounds and experiences, this conference is designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical advice you need to help you manage your triggers, yell less, connect more, and raise liberated, emotionally-well children.
Tune in to this episode to learn about some of the speakers you will hear from and the workshops you can participate in during the conference!
With this conference, I’m hoping we can come together and not only talk about what’s wrong, but discuss solutions and focus on how we can be the change we want to see.
